New Post

Happy Friday! There are two really cool stories this week to look at regarding sports cars.

  1. 2025 Corvette ZR1 Announcement

A new YouTube Video from Chevrolet making announcement was just released this week teasing the new ZR1 and announcing the official debut on Jul 25 and there are already a few conspiracies on what the specs will be.

You can watch that teaser video here.

Much of the following is an excerpt from a Car and Driver Article (click here to see full article)

“Chevy hasn't confirmed specifics about the ZR1 yet—we'll have to wait until closer to launch for that—but we already know the ZR1 will be a cut above the already impressive 670-hp Corvette Z06.

We expect the ZR1 will use the same 5.5-liter V-8 engine as that car, but we think it could be tuned up to over 800 horsepower. All that extra power is likely to come courtesy of a pair of turbochargers.

The Z06 managed a 2.6-second rip to 60 mph in our testing, and the similarly powerful Corvette E-Ray hybrid managed a 2.5-second time. When we get our hands on a ZR1, we expect to see it beat both of those models at our test track.”

The article went on further to talk about the camouflaged prototypes testing at the Nürburgring. Both were wearing added wings on the back including the one you can get on the Z06 and one even bigger.

We won’t know much more until the release but we will keep you updated here when new information comes out on this car.

  2. Bugatti Tourbillon

In case you thought Bugattis were lacking price and horsepower then don’t worry. They have answered.

I only learned recently that Bugatti and Rimac merged in 2021 (shame on me) and this car is now the second brainchild of the merged entity.

Ditching the Chiron’s 8.0L W16 the Tourbillon now comes with a 8.3L V16 producing 986hp that spins up to 9000 RPM. (not even sure I can fathom what that would sound like)

Being a hybrid the new car is also powered by 3 electric motors producing their own 789 horsepower for a total of 1775 in total. These same motors will gave the driver 30 miles of range on battery alone.

In order to get into this new hybrid behemoth you only need to drop $4.6 million to get an allocation for one of the 250 that Bugatti intends to build of this model.

Another cool feature is how analog the designers wanted to make this car. In fear of looking tacky decades later along with many of the digital displays which currently exist, this car will have one the coolest instrument clusters probably of any car ever. The picture below shows what the steering wheel looks like with the instrument cluster fixed to it.

The Tourbillon will have an estimated top speed of 277mph and a 0-60 time of just 2.0 seconds.

And in typical Bugatti fashion they will sell only to interested buyers who have an established record of previously purchasing a Bugatti or Rimac model. Production to begin in 2026.

Hope that enlightens your weekend. Will be back with more stories next week.

Thanks,
